Torrejon Oatmeal Bread

Description

This is a great hearty bread to go with soup, or to use as toast. It’s easy to make and even freezes well.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • ⅔ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 2 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • ¼ cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 6 ½ cups bread flour

Cook Time: 45 mins

Total Time: 2 hrs 10 mins
