Oatmeal Buttermilk Cookies

Description

Spicy oatmeal cookies with the tangy zip of buttermilk.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground allspice
  • ⅔ cup buttermilk
  • 1 ½ cups rolled oats
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  2. In a large bowl
  3. cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg. Combine the flour
  4. baking soda
  5. nutmeg
  6. cinnamon and allspice; stir into the sugar mixture alternately with the buttermilk. Mix in the oats
  7. walnuts and raisins. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
