Herbed Dumplings

Description

Savory dumplings for beef or chicken stew.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ¾ cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a bowl
  2. mix the flour
  3. salt
  4. baking soda
  5. baking powder
  6. thyme
  7. parsley
  8. and oregano. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add milk
  9. using just enough to form a thick batter.
  10. Drop by rounded tablespoons into your simmering soup or stew
  11. cover
  12. and allow to cook 15 minutes.
