Gramma’s Apple Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 4 cups soft bread cubes
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • 2 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 ¾ cups milk
  • ¼ cup margarine
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 7×11-inch baking dish.
  2. Make pudding: Combine bread
  3. apples
  4. and raisins in a large bowl. Combine milk
  5. brown sugar
  6. and margarine in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook and stir until margarine is melted. Pour over bread mixture in the bowl; mix until evenly coated. Pour bread mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Whisk together eggs
  8. cinnamon
  9. and vanilla in a small bowl. Pour egg mixture over bread mixture in the baking dish.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven until the center is set and apples are tender
  11. 40 to 50 minutes.
  12. Meanwhile
  13. make vanilla sauce: Mix together milk
  14. margarine
  15. white sugar
  16. and brown sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil
  17. remove from heat
  18. and stir in vanilla. Serve over pudding.
