Description
This is a quick recipe for beignets which does not require yeast or rolling and cutting. These are delicious served with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar, cinnamon-sugar, honey, or any other topping that you might use for donuts or waffles.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons white sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Combine flour
- water
- milk
- egg
- baking powder
- sugar
- and salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix until smooth.
- Pour oil into a deep skillet or pot and heat over medium-high heat to 360 degrees F (180 degrees C).
- Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry
- turning once
- until they rise to the surface and turn golden brown and puffy
- 3 to 5 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.
