Deep Fried Oysters

Description

This is a very simple recipe for fried oysters. You can use the same recipe for shrimp and scallops too.

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts vegetable oil for deep frying
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 12 ounces shucked oysters, drained
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • ¾ cup fine bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Combine flour
  3. salt
  4. and pepper in a shallow bowl. Place eggs in another bowl. Place bread crumbs in a third bowl.
  5. Dredge oysters in flour mixture
  6. then dip in egg and roll in bread crumbs to coat thoroughly.
  7. Cook oysters
  8. 5 at a time
  9. in hot oil until golden brown
  10. about 2 minutes. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Serve hot.
