Brownie Bread

Description

Chocolaty loaf of bread that’s not too sweet. Great with peanut butter, toasted, and for breakfast. Kids LOVE it!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • 2 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • ½ cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • ⅔ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl
  2. dissolve cocoa powder in boiling water.
  3. In a separate bowl
  4. dissolve yeast and 2 teaspoons sugar in warm water. Let stand until creamy
  5. about 10 minutes.
  6. Place cocoa mixture
  7. yeast mixture
  8. bread flour
  9. remaining 2/3 cup white sugar
  10. salt
  11. vegetable oil and egg in bread machine pan. Select basic Bread cycle; press Start.

Cook Time: 3 hrs

Total Time: 3 hrs 15 mins
