PDQ Hot Beef Sandwiches

An original recipe from my good friend Vicki! She isn’t very computer literate so asked me to post this. I made this for Christmas and it was a hit! Can be prepared the day before which makes it very handy for busy holidays!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 (4 pound) beef chuck roast
  • 1 cup chili sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder, or to taste
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Place the roast in the pan
  2. and brown on all sides.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low
  4. and pour in the chili sauce
  5. water
  6. and vinegar. Season with chili powder
  7. salt
  8. pepper
  9. garlic powder and white sugar. Simmer over medium-low heat for 3 hours
  10. or until meat is fork tender. Remove beef
  11. and refrigerate overnight. Reserve sauce
  12. and refrigerate.
  13. Slice or shred beef
  14. and place in a large pot on the stove with the sauce. Heat through
  15. and serve alone
  16. or on your favorite sandwich buns.

Cook Time: 3 hrs 30 mins

Total Time: 11 hrs 50 mins
