Easy Drop Beignets

Description

This is a quick recipe for beignets which does not require yeast or rolling and cutting. These are delicious served with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar, cinnamon-sugar, honey, or any other topping that you might use for donuts or waffles.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Combine flour
  2. water
  3. milk
  4. egg
  5. baking powder
  6. sugar
  7. and salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix until smooth.
  8. Pour oil into a deep skillet or pot and heat over medium-high heat to 360 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  9. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry
  10. turning once
  11. until they rise to the surface and turn golden brown and puffy
  12. 3 to 5 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.
